What is an Instagram Reels downloader?
Instagram lets you bookmark a Reel inside the app but offers no way to save it as a file. An Instagram downloader fills that gap: you supply the link of a public Reel or video post and receive an MP4 that you can keep on your device.
Tap the share icon or the three-dot menu on the post, choose Copy link, and paste it into Clip Converter. The video is saved as a standard MP4, and the Audio tab can extract the sound on its own.
How to use the Instagram Downloader
- Copy the Instagram link. Press the share icon or the ⋯ menu on the Reel or post and choose Copy link.
- Paste it on the homepage. Paste the link into the box on the Clip Converter homepage and press Get Clip to load the video.
- Download. Save the MP4, or open the Audio tab to keep only the sound.
Key features
- Reels and video posts. Public Reels and video posts are saved as standard MP4 files.
- Audio from Reels. Keep the sound of a Reel as MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC.
- We never ask for your login. You do not enter your Instagram username or password anywhere on this site.
- Several links together. Paste up to 25 links and download them as one batch.
You never need to log in
Clip Converter does not ask for your Instagram username or password — not on any page, not for any feature. Be cautious with downloaders that do. Handing your login to a third-party site is the most common way Instagram accounts are stolen, and it is never necessary for saving a public video.
Why Instagram links fail more often
Instagram is stricter than most platforms. Much of its content is shown only to signed-in users, and automated access is limited aggressively. As a rule of thumb: if the post opens in a private browser window where you are logged out, it can usually be downloaded. If Instagram shows a login wall instead, it cannot.
Private accounts and Stories are out of reach for the same reason. The tool only sees what is visible to everyone on the public web.
Common uses
- Backing up your own Reels, especially when the original edit was made inside the app.
- Reposting your own content to TikTok or YouTube Shorts.

Frequently asked questions
Why do Instagram links fail more often than YouTube links?
Instagram restricts a lot of content to signed-in users and limits automated access. If a post opens only when you are logged in, it cannot be fetched here.
Can I download from a private account I follow?
No. The tool can only see what is visible to everyone on the public web.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, email or app to install. Paste a link and the tool works in your browser on any device.
Is it legal to use?
Saving content you created, own, or have permission to use is generally fine. Downloading copyrighted material without permission may breach the platform’s terms or local copyright law. You are responsible for how you use the files.
