What is a Twitter / X video downloader?
X, formerly Twitter, has no download button for videos in posts. A Twitter video downloader reads the post, finds the video file behind it and saves it to your device as an MP4.

GIFs on X are really videos
When someone posts a GIF on X, the platform converts it into a short, silent, looping video, because video files are far smaller than true GIFs. That is why a “GIF” from X is saved here as an MP4. If you need an actual .gif file, any free converter will turn the MP4 into one.
Posts that cannot be downloaded
Posts from protected accounts are visible only to approved followers. Posts that X hides behind a login — often those labelled as sensitive content — cannot be reached either, and deleted posts are gone. Public posts with an attached video generally work without trouble.
